Chorlton's switch-on centres on the Royal Oak at Four Banks, with a makers market from midday and music, stalls and crafts stretching up towards Chorlton Library. Performances start at 3pm, Father Christmas pays a visit, and the Four Banks lights and the village Christmas tree go on at 5pm, followed by an hour of carol singing with mince pies and mulled wine. It is run by Redeemer Church with the Royal Oak and local traders, and it's free.
