Most displays fall on the weekends either side of Bonfire Night (5 November). Smaller community displays run by schools, scout groups and sports clubs are often cheaper and earlier, which suits younger children; the big ticketed shows tend to add music, food stalls and a funfair.

With little ones, ear defenders make a big difference, and an earlier display means an earlier bedtime. Arrive in good time to park and find a spot behind the crowd line, wrap up warm and bring a torch. Sparklers aren't suitable for under-5s; older children should wear gloves.

Many displays sell tickets in advance and some sell out, so check the booking link on each event. If the weather turns, organisers post changes on their own websites and social media.

Questions parents ask

When is Bonfire Night 2026?

Bonfire Night is 5 November. Most organised displays are on the nearest weekend, with some in the week before or after.

Are there free firework displays near Sale and Altrincham?

Some community displays are free or ask for a donation. They carry a Free label in the list above; see all free things to do.

Which displays suit toddlers?

Smaller, earlier displays (around 6pm) are easiest with little ones. Bring ear defenders: the big shows can be loud and crowded near the front.
