Visit Altrincham, the town's business improvement district, has set Saturday 21 November for this year's Christmas lights switch-on as part of its "Choose Alty this Christmas" campaign. So far only the date is out: no times, line-up or road closures yet. Last year the switch-on took over Regent Road and George Street from mid-afternoon until the lights went on at dusk, so plan on an afternoon in town and check back here nearer the day.
