When do summer family festival tickets go on sale near Manchester?
Summer event tickets near Manchester usually go on sale between September and February. For a good choice of dates, book by 31 May.
Summer is less of a sell-out race than Christmas: the big festivals and shows sell for months on a rising price ladder, and the cheapest tickets go first rather than the whole event. Just So and the Royal Cheshire County Show open their early birds within days or weeks of the previous year's event, and the show's early-bird price can last only a fortnight. The things that genuinely run out are short, timed, small-capacity slots: Chester Zoo's Afterglow evenings, which the zoo calls past sell-outs and puts on sale only weeks ahead, and farm sunflower trails released in batches. Why then: open-air theatre goes on sale in late February, zoo evenings in May to mid-July, and booking by the end of May covers most of the summer before the school holidays, though the cheapest festival and show prices will have gone the previous autumn.
From 12 booking launches we dated across 5 outings, 2023 to 2027, 11 to the day or week (earliest August, latest May); the rest show when tickets were already on sale. Research checked Wednesday 28 October; booking states updated Wednesday 28 October.

RHS Flower Show Tatton Park is left out: no 2025 or 2026 show at Tatton, and the archived ticket pages for 2024 were stale, so no on-sale date could be read (it returns 21-25 July 2027). No dated on-sale or sell-out evidence was found for Foodies Festival Tatton (it sells discounted early birds through deal sites), bluedot (its archived ticket page was years out of date), Kenyon Hall's maize maze, Lyme or Dunham open-air theatre and cinema, or Manchester Day (free). Several on-sale dates are 'on or before' a date (Just So 2024, 2026, 2027; Cheshire Show 2027; Kenyon Hall), not the day booking opened. Grosvenor Park's 2025 on-sale date was not found.

How we worked it out
We dated when booking opened for 5 of the most popular summer shows and festivals within about an hour of Timperley, 2023 to 2027, from the organisers' own announcements, saved copies of their booking pages on the Internet Archive, local news and ticketing sites. "Usually" and "typical" mean the median date, ignoring the year. Today's booking states come from our own checks of each booking page, rebuilt every night. Something wrong or missing?
